Our Courses

In our course ‘Adventures,’ you will perfect the following English language skills:

  • Listening for details
  • Speaking (Conversation-based, enhancing fluency and accuracy)
  • Reading (Skimming, Scanning, and Careful Reading)
  • Descriptive Writing
  • Building your Vocabulary (learning new words and learning to use them)

We start our courses by giving you the perfect introduction to get to playing and practicing your English as soon as possible:

Level Test

Our expert instructors will give you a short test to determine your English language level. The options are: pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, upper-Intermediate, and Advanced. Depending on your level, the adventure will change to suit your needs (Because it is an immersive English experience with a lot of vocabulary, listening, and speaking practice, we currently only offer courses for pre-Intermediate Level English users and above)

Session 0: Pre-game Preparation

After determining your level, we offer a 1.5-2 hour introduction we call ‘Session 0.’ In this time, we will introduce the role-playing game we will be playing (typically Dungeons and Dragons, 5th edition¹) and teach some important vocabulary. Then, we will help you create the character who you will be playing in the game. Character creation involves: picking your species (such as human, elf, dwarf, orc, and more); your class (fighter, wizard, monk, and more); and your character’s personality, background, and ideals. Once this is done, you are ready for your English language adventure!

Choose Your Adventure

We offer both individual classes (Solo Adventure) and group classes (Group Adventure). In your Adventure, you and the instructor (called the Game Master) will play a tabletop role-playing game, creating characters and stories as you become a more confident English language user! Our games can be “one-shot” versions, in which you only play once to see if you like it, or “campaigns,” which last longer and allow more English practice as your character develops and gains experience!

We offer the following options which are tailor-made to you:

Solo Adventure*

In the Fantasy Solo Adventure, one teacher serves as the Game Master, and you can choose to play alone or alongside another teacher. This gives you a more personalized experience, and more focused environment for your learning. One session is 2 hours long, and the standard length of an entire campaign (course) is approximately 60 hours (this can change depending on the your needs).

Group Adventure*

In the Fantasy Group Adventure, one teacher serves as the Game Master, while you and other students will play as the adventurers. This group environment gives you many chances to practice speaking and role playing with other students as well as the teacher. One session is 2 hours long, and the standard length of an entire campaign (course) is approximately 60 hours (this can change depending on the group’s needs). The maximum group size is 5.

Do you want to be part of a group, but don’t have anyone else to play with? We may be able to put you together with another player of a similar level. Please get in touch for more detailed information about group availability.

Fantasy settings are perhaps the most popular settings for many tabletop role-playing games. Fight dragons, stop (or start) wars between kingdoms, wield magic, or search for hidden treasure…the possibilities are endless! Fans of fantasy works like Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, Discworld, and classics will feel right at home.

Whether you choose the Solo Adventure or Group Adventure, your journey will start with a placement test to determine your level (Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate, Advanced). Then you will meet with one of our experienced instructors for “Session 0,” in which you will create the character you will play and go over essential game rules and vocabulary. After that, you will be ready to play and learn!
