About Us

At DnD ESL, we believe in giving students a completely unique learning environment. Through our years of teaching experience, we discovered that students learn best when they can practice the English language as much as possible. In addition, we think learning should be fun. That’s why we have combined ESL learning with tabletop role-playing games. Thus, we have a simple mission: to provide a fun, interactive English learning experience. Students practice the four essential skills—Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing—while playing role-playing games with other students or individually.

Our Team

Jared Wall, co-founder

Jared has been teaching Literature and Language since 2004. Since a young age, he has been a fan of everything fantasy. He started buying and looking at comic books like The X-Men and Spider-Man before he could even read. This love of fantasy and fiction grew over time, moving on to games like Magic: The Gathering and novels like the Wheel of Time series. He studied English Literature in university and later became a teacher specializing in ESL. More recently, a love for more creative and social games like tabletop RPGs has helped bring Jared’s teaching and geek background together.

Tyler Denison, co-founder

Tyler has been a professional teacher since 2007 and is a lifelong fan of stories. Whether it is teaching, playing role-playing games, or performing improvisational theater, Tyler loves to create and share stories with others. He grew up with a love of fantasy and imaginary worlds, especially the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. Later, while studying History and Anthropology in university, he developed a passion for the tales, myths, and traditions of past and present cultures. For the past 11 years, he has taught ESL, History, and preparation for exams like TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, and ACT. Now, at DnD ESL, he is combining his teaching experience with his love for storytelling.
